         Kurmali or Kudmali, one ofmany dialect variants ofHindi which is spoken in Jharkhand, is generally linked to the Kudumi Mahato community of Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal. Kudmali is also spoken by the Kudumi people of Assam, and was brought to the tea gardens from Bihar, Odisha and West Bengal. Some Jharkhand intellectuals claim that Kurmali may be the nearest form of language used in Charyapada. As a trade dialect, it is known as Panchpargania, for the 'five districts' of the region it covers. Now a compact disc of six Tagore songs have been brought out in Kurmali by banglanatokdotcom .Tagore had reached out to the indigenous community in a subtle and silent way. These songs have been translated by Purulia's well known Ghumur poet, Sunil Mahato. Local artists led by Ghumur exponent Mihir Lal Singh Deo have arranged the music for the songs.
